GLOBALIZATION of modern Architecture : the impact of politics, economics and social change on architecture and urban design since 1990.
by Adam Robert, 2012, Cambridge Scholars publishing, electronic resource, p 7-29
This reading is undeniably interesting but I found it hard to get through has it is very condense in knowledge, and information. I did found very interesting the connection between historical fact and the introduction to different architectural style.
I really liked the quote from the philosopher Diogenes of Oenoanda: " In relation to each segment of the earth, different people have different native lands. But in relation to the whole circuit of this world, the entire earth is a single native land for everyone, and the world a single home ". I would translate it like that : A men could be born anywhere in the word, have a completely different life to his neighbor but would still have to consider him with the same respect has they both are from the same place, earth. It does not mean they have to have the same culture or belief.
I believe to be the same with architecture, everyone can use the same material, but should treat it differently in regard of were they are on the world. We should always keep in mind where we are from; as it will always influence us in some way but we should consider where we are, and the context around us; in order to build something, i believe more aesthetically. Like the Chinese did with the American skyscraper which they adapted to there traditional architecture. People feeds on other people knowledge, its up to them to knows what they gone use this knowledge for; copy it word for word, or make it improve.
